The Quilt Show takes place in the East and West Galleries, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 27 from 1-3pm. Gallery openings are always free and open to the public.

During the Quilt Show, patrons and guests are able to vote for their favorite quilt. The winner of the “People’s Choice” will be given the opportunity of having a solo exhibit in the Arts Café during the 2025 Annual Quilt Show.

2023 People’s Choice Award Winner - Carolyn Raimy

I was always interested in fiber. First it was yarn. Then thread. Then it was wool from sheep and spinning. Then it was weaving.

After high school I was accepted in the School for American Craftsmen at RIT in Rochester. I was in the textile department. There was metal shop, wood shop, pottery shop. We were in a mansion. Textile department was in the ballroom. To say that it was not a four walls and a floor sterile environment is an understatement. I began to do as much as I could and design patterns and experiment with different colors and produce as much of my own designs as I could.

Then I took an interest in quilts. That was something that I could design and sew at home. I had always loved sewing. Now that is how I work. I live in an 1800 house so I love designs from that era. I do make more modern quilts however.

I have taught quilting for forty years and lectured in many states. I have shown my quilts in national shows and now in the Earlville Opera House. I love to coach people when they need it.

In 2011 I was interviewed in my Smyrna studio by a representative from the Alliance for American Quilts at the Smithsonian. I’m in the Smithsonian. What an honor.
