Bio/Artist Statement
Steph is an artist and researcher gathering moss in Leipzig, Germany. Through situated encounters and installations with material and temporal elements, such as textiles, objects, performances, videos, or audio pieces, Steph centers the aesthetics and affects of subjective and interdependent relations. Their work ambles in a space of non-linear speculation and somatic observation, aiming to resist normalized violence and move towards multi-species worldings.
As part of their practice, they co-run Catwings, an initiative for relational, situational and performative practices and research, and are a member of the Kombinat e.V., an interdisciplinary art studio in Leipzig, Germany.
Steph’s work has been presented in Germany, Latvia, Greece, Lithuania, Italy, and the USA at various artist-run spaces, institutions, and in public spaces. They studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (MFA 2021) and at School of Fine Art Athens in Greece, and are currently part of a post-graduate program for artistic research at the Kunsthochschule Kassel in Germany.
